How to do EFT

2. The EFT Tapping Sequence (Shortcut Version)

- After tapping the KC point and repeating the Setup Phrase 3 times, continue to focus on your issue by repeating a Reminder Phrase which briefly describes THIS PROBLEM. For example, "this fear of dogs", or "this nervousness about my audition".

- Tap on the following EFT Points, 6 or 7 times each, while repeating the Reminder Phrase. You can use the fingertips of the middle and index fingers and you can tap with either hand, on either side of the body. Repeating the Reminder Phrase keeps you tuned in to the problem you are working on.

- Tapping on this series of 8 points while repeating the Reminder Phrase is called a Round of EFT. By tapping these acupuncture points while thinking about your issue, you correct and balance the disrupted energy in your meridians that is causing your symptoms.

3. The Check-in

- When you have completed one round of EFT, stop and check in with the problem you were working on. Rate your current level of discomfort or distress that you are feeling right now. Again, use a scale of 0 (no discomfort at all) to 10 (intense discomfort).

- Sometimes just one round of tapping with EFT will bring your problem down to a zero. Sometimes is takes two or more rounds of tapping. Your level of discomfort may have gone from a 7 down to a 3. If you still have some discomfort or distress, repeat the Setup and Tapping Sequence but with an adjustment to your wording to reflect that you are still working on this problem. Your new Setup Phrase would be:

Even though I STILL have SOME OF THIS PROBLEM, I deeply and completely accept myself. The new Reminder Phrase would be THIS REMAINING PROBLEM.

The key is to be persistent and to keep tapping until you no longer feel distress or discomfort. If you are having trouble getting your discomfort to a zero, then try being more specific. For example, instead of stating the problem as "knee pain", try using a phrase like "this intense, hot, stabbing pain in my right knee".

While EFT is a simple and easy to follow procedure, the human system is very complex. Most people do have success very quickly, sometimes within minutes. Sometimes, complex issues and illnesses take more time, effort and detective work to find the perfect thing to tap on. I also encourage you to be persistent and not give up. Often, an EFT practitioner can be a great support to get you tapping in the right direction.  I also encourage you to enhance your EFT learning by downloading and studying the EFT Manual.
